Jaymie's Birthday

Holiday was working at on some files left on her desk. Paperwork was part of a doctor's job after all. It was a long grueling task that no one really enjoyed, but someone had to get it done. She glanced over at the clock. 10. She still had plenty of time before lunch. The good doctor didn't like to procrastinate, but for once, she did. Glancing over at a desktop calendar, she decided to flip through it. She didn't get very far though, since Thursday had something written on it. "Jaymie's birthday!!!" Her mouth gaped open for a second. She stood up and hurried out of the lab to find Rex and Six. They needed to plan a party for her. Jaymie was a child growing up in a non-traditional way. Holiday took it upon herself to make it as normal as possible. Even if that meant giving up paperwork to make a party.

Rex he's doing a pretty good job on his own. They're staying decently quite and haven't run off or touch anything yet. Everything is fine. But he could really use another person here to help. He hopes holiday will get here soon. In the meantime he's got the pack of children playing some spotty story telling game. It's keeping their attention and he isn't to involved so all is good.

Holiday smiles at Jaymie. "I promise it won't be too long." She headed out the door and started in the direction she hoped to find them. Six never really specified where they were. She eventually found the room and walked in. "How's everyone?" She looked at all the children and turned to look at Rex. It was quite a big turn out.

[naniteking]

"Uh everything's going good so far. No ones ran off or anything and other than something about my teeth they are pretty good kids."

[hollyoncall]

"That's good to hear." Don't want Jaymie to be friends with bad children. "Is there anything I can do to help?" She didn't know what to do. Might as well let Rex take the lead for this one.

[naniteking]

"Just having another person here to help keep an eye on them is helpful." As if on cue two of the kids stopped whatever game they were playing and started to wonder off.

"I'll go get them." Holiday went off to get the two kids. She quickly caught up with them. "Hey, where are you going?" She gently put a hand on their shoulders. "We want to see Jaymie." Holiday looked at both of them and gave a soft smile. "Jaymie will be here soon. Stay here and play some games. She won't be long." The children blinked. "okay." The good doctor offered both of them a hand, and lead them back to the group.

"Thanks." Rex smiled. It was easier with two people. It was a rather large group of kids after all. "So what games do you wanna play next?" Rex asked the group.

Six was moving around the kitchen. Chicken tenders were cooking in the oven, grilled cheese was cooking on the oven top. And Six was moving some mini pizzas off of a tray onto a serving platter. The cake was sitting on the table to thaw a little bit before being served. After finishing the mini pizzas, Six turned back to the grilled cheese and flipped them over. He glanced over at the time. 11:50. The oven's timer dinged, signalling the food was done. Six quickly took the tenders out and put them on a serving platter. He turned back to the grilled cheese and noticed they were done as well. Perfect he had made it on time. Now, to deliver the food and get Holiday.

Rex is in a heated staring contest with with the tooth kid. Whatever it's keeping team entertained. Rex blinked at the kid cheered along with the others who were watching the contest.

Six walked into the party room, carrying all three trays of food. Thankfully, he had a heightened sense of balance. He looked at all the children, and show Rex's lost. At least he was keeping the children busy. He put the food on the table."The party's ready. We just need to get Jaymie." It was directed towards both Rex and Holiday.

Rex looked up to Six then turned to Holiday. " you wanna go get her or should I?" He asked.

[hollyoncall]

"We can all go to get her." The good doctor spoke up. "I promised to get her for her surprise. Six promised to play with her when he got back, and you haven't seen her yet today, Rex." I think it'll be special if we all escort her to the party." She's sure the children would stay put for the few minutes they went to Jaymie's room and back, especially if they were told Jaymie was coming. Maybe ask them to hide and scare Jaymie when she entered the room?

[naniteking]

"Sounds good to me." Rex smiled. He stood up and stretched and head towards the door. "Let's go then." He looked to the group of kids. " We'll be back soon and with Jaymie. You guys hang out here and then the real fun can start, okay?"

[hollyoncall]

The children nodded, and shouted various forms of understanding. Seems like they look up to Rex. "Shall we go then?" The good doctor started on her way out.

Six put his hands in his pockets and looked from Holiday to the kids. They better not eat all the food while they go get the birthday girl. He removed his hands from the pockets and followed Holiday out of the room.

Jaymie laid on the floor with a doodle pad and crayons scattered in front of here she hummed a tune as she drew. The birthday girl was very excited for that surprise holiday mentioned. What could it be?

[hollyoncall]

She won't have to wait too long. Holiday approached her door, hearing the men's steps behind her and knocked on the door.

[naniteking]

Jaymie's head lifted up from her artwork. She looked to the door when she heard the knock. She smiled. "Come in" she called out. She went back to her art to add a finishing touch to it so she could show whoever it was. It was a picture of her and her 'family' :D

Surprise!

[hollyoncall]

Holiday entered the room, with the men, hopefully, close behind. "Hey, Jaymie. You ready for your surprise?" The good doctor was smiling. She couldn't wait.

"Is it time for the surprise? Show me show me I wanna know the surprise now!"

Plot twist: That is Jaymie's surprise.

Holiday smiled at the child, again. She felt like an actual mother. "Alright. You'll have to close your eyes. Rex and Six will hold your hands so you won't get lost." Congrats, men, Holiday has given you work.

Rex held out his hand to Jaymie. " I'll guide you kiddo."

Jaymie smiled and took Rex's hand in hers and held out her other hand to six. She grinned as she closed her eyes tight. " hurry up I wanna see my surprise!"

Six glanced over to Holiday before taking his not-daughter's hand. "Let's go then." He began to take a step forward. He was more worried about the guests ruining the party and eating all the food than anything. Leaving a bunch of children by themselves did not seem like a good idea.

Holiday took a step in front of the trio. She planned on leading everyone to the party. Or, at least, block Jaymie from seeing her surprise in case she wanted to sneak a peek. The doctor began to walk towards the party room.
