Jaymie's Birthday

Holiday was working at on some files left on her desk. Paperwork was part of a doctor's job after all. It was a long grueling task that no one really enjoyed, but someone had to get it done. She glanced over at the clock. 10. She still had plenty of time before lunch. The good doctor didn't like to procrastinate, but for once, she did. Glancing over at a desktop calendar, she decided to flip through it. She didn't get very far though, since Thursday had something written on it. "Jaymie's birthday!!!" Her mouth gaped open for a second. She stood up and hurried out of the lab to find Rex and Six. They needed to plan a party for her. Jaymie was a child growing up in a non-traditional way. Holiday took it upon herself to make it as normal as possible. Even if that meant giving up paperwork to make a party.

Rex finished setting up the room for the party. He helped holiday put up the decorations and he looked around the room satisfied. It looked good.

Almost time to party.

[hollyoncall]

The party was really coming together. Holiday glanced down at her watch. 11 o'clock. The party would be starting soon. She hoped Six was doing his work. She hasn't checked base with him since she got Rex for the party hats. In the midst of her worrying, her cell phone went off. She picked it up and looked at the caller id. It was Six. She answered it with a slightly confused "hello?"

Six with kids. Part 1

There were voices in the background. The sounds of children rang loud and clear across the phone. Six sat in the pilot seat of his jet and heard Holiday's voice reach him. Thankfully. "Holiday, what do you plan to do with the children before the party?" He asked. Before he could receive an answer, though, a small boy walked over to him. "Mister, when are we gonna go to the party?" he asked. Six turned to look at the kid. "Shouldn't you be in your seat? We'll get there when we get there. Ask again and I'll give you the same answer." The child blinked and opened his mouth again. "Holiday, I need an answer fast," Six demanded as the child repeats the same question to him.

Holiday listened to the commotion aboard Six's jet. She paused for a minute, trying to come up with an idea. She didn't know Six would get the kids this quick. At least he was doing his part. The good doctor blurted out the first thing she could think of. "Bring them here. Rex can entertain them until the party. It's far enough away that Jaymie won't hear."

[naniteking]

"Rex is gonna do what now?"

[hollyoncall]

Holiday hung up and turned to Rex. "You're going to entertain the guests until the party starts. You have to make sure they stay away from Jaymie." She knew she was dumping a lot of responsibility on him. Six couldn't watch them while he was cooking, and as much as she loved children, she didn't know how to keep a party's worth occupied. "It should only be for a half hour. Sooner, depending on Six's cooking. Someone should go and make sure Jaymie is ready. I haven't said happy birthday yet. After I tell her that, I'll be right back to help you with the kids," she explained.

[naniteking]

"Alright, fine. Shouldn't be to hard"

[hollyoncall]

"Great. Six should be here soon. If you want to meet him at the hanger, you can. I'm off to tell Jaymie a happy birthday." And with that the good doctor turned and headed off to her "daughter's" room.

"I'll head to the hanger then" he headed off to the hanger

Jaymie is still in her room and out of trouble. She's digging trough her toy box. Toys scattered around the room.

Ladies first then the men?

[hollyoncall]

Holiday walked down the hall, a bit excited to wish the child a happy birthday. She hoped the party would be a good one and that Jaymie would be thoroughly happy with it. It's not every day you turn 6 after all. She stopped at Jaymie's door, and knocked. "Jaymie. Are you in there?"

Yeah sure. We're already here with them afterall.

Jaymie smiles and opens the door. " Hi mommy! I was just looking for stuff to the with green bean and Dollie."

[hollyoncall]

"I see. May I come in and see the birthday girl?" Holiday wanted to make Jaymie feel special. Especially since Six was probably the only person to see her today.

[naniteking]

" Sure mommy come on in!" She's gonna hug you.

[hollyoncall]

Holiday walked into the room with a big smile.

Hugs for the mamma.

[hollyoncall]

"You're growing into such a big girl. Are you excited for your birthday? I have a surprise for you, but you'll have to wait a bit longer for it." Holiday was enjoying the role of motherhood. Though she probably wouldn't admit it to anyone. Especially Six. Definitely not Six. She wondered vaguely if he was doing alright, and if the children were alright.

[naniteking]

"I'm very excited Mommy! It's been a good day so far! Did you know that daddy made me special birthday pancakes this morning?"

It wasn't surprising Holiday did actually adopt Jaymie and the good doctor was a very motherly person. But if the woman showed to much attachment to either child providence might take them from her. Such a tricky spot to be in. As for Jaymie she's just a kid who sees none of that. She just wants to be with her family and for everyone to be happy and together. She doesn't see how that can be to much to ask for in a world and organization like theirs.

" Ooo a surprise? Can't I just have the surprise now?" Pouts.

[hollyoncall]

"I hope he made them taste extra good." It was touching to hear about Six doing something special like that. It was nice to hear him being a father. "And no. You'll have to wait. It shouldn't take too long. The longer you wait the bigger the surprise will be." And by bigger she meant with actual guests and food.

[naniteking]

"Okay okay fine. I'll wait." She rocked excitedly on the balls of her feet.

" yeah breakfast was yummy" even if she got covered in syrup. But that's out of what made it so good for her.
